Syracuse defensive back Chauncey Scissum tweeted Sunday afternoon that he and defensive back Corey Winfield "are good" after the two were allegedly stabbed by former teammate Naesean Howard.

Scissum's father, Arthur Scissum, told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle that his son is doing well and could be released from the hospital in a few days.

"Everything should be OK, be all right," Arthur Scissum said. "He'll be able to continue what he normally does in a short time."

Two Syracuse football players were reportedly involved in a stabbing incident with a former member of the team.

According to Syracuse.com, Chauncey Scissum and Corey Winfield, both defensive backs, were allegedly stabbed by ex-Orange player Naesean Howard. Howard was arrested Saturday afternoon after an investigation into a report of a stabbing.

Winfield is in stable condition, according to an Upstate University Hospital spokesperson. Scissum's condition is unclear as the spokesperson could not confirm his status.

Howard, who was last part of the team in 2014, has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault as well as weapon possession. He had re-enrolled at the university and has been indefinitely suspended from the school.

"We are aware of this incident and our focus right now is on supporting our two students as they recover," Syracuse president of public affairs Kevin Quinn said in a statement. "The accused individual, who knew the victims, has been suspended from the University indefinitely. We do not tolerate any act of violence and the safety of our campus and community is a top priority."

Scissum played in all 12 of Syracuse's games last year as a redshirt sophomore and was the fourth-leading tackler on the team with 43 stops. Winfied, also a redshirt sophomore in 2015, had 30 tackles in eight games last season and also tallied two interceptions.
